Egg packaging: from trays and shrink film to secured pallets
Choose egg packaging equipment and film with POLPACK ZEUS: Zeus Group egg trays, DIBIPACK, ESPERT, automatic sealers and ventilated pallet wrapping.
Start with the egg tray, then select film and machinery
An egg tray supports and separates the eggs. Film holds the pack together, improves presentation and helps retain the contents during handling. The finished result depends on tray stiffness, film tension and a properly adjusted shrink process.
Egg trays are also available within the Zeus Group offering. We can therefore discuss the primary pack as well as the film and machine. The format, closure and customer's requirements are established for the particular project.
Prepare the number of eggs per pack, tray dimensions and height, whether the tray is open or lidded, hourly output, number of shifts and format-change frequency. Presentation, identification, pallet layout and transport conditions also influence the selection.
Which machine should you choose?
Compare output in packs per hour, not individual eggs. The same number of eggs can create a very different workload with different tray formats. Feeding, discharge and operator organisation also affect the result.
DIBIPACK chamber machines provide a compact workstation for smaller batches and flexible products. The operator places the tray in centre-folded film and closes the hood. Sealing and shrinking take place within one chamber. We check chamber size, shrink quality and realistic operator output.
ESPERT semi-automatic sealers with tunnels separate the operations. The next pack can be prepared while the previous one passes through the tunnel. This is a natural step when a chamber station starts limiting throughput. Tray transport, feeding convenience and tunnel settings matter.
Automatic sealing for repeatable production
Automatic L-sealers such as MECPACK detect the product and perform the sealing cycle. Constant-temperature sealing elements support controlled processing. Film selection, product spacing and conveying are matched to reduce manual work at the packing stage.
For larger series, we also assess side-sealing machines, including Hugo Beck configurations. Tray arrival rate, pack length, cross-sealing arrangements and discharge must work together. Required output is matched to the particular model and product, with the rest of the line sized to keep pace.
We select the complete process, not just a sealer. Feeding and discharging trays, tunnel setup and a stable supply of product influence the result as much as the nominal machine specification.

PVC, POF and perforation for egg packs
PVC DECOTERM offers clarity, gloss and forgiving shrinking, making it an option for chamber machines. POF offers a range of possibilities for semi-automatic and automatic equipment, with the grade selected for sealing, airflow and the required result on the tray.
Thermally perforated POF permits air exchange through the pack and helps air escape during shrinking. Perforation is chosen for the application; it does not replace suitable storage and transport conditions or guarantee that condensation cannot occur.
Trials assess film appearance, seals, pack stability and whether shrinking deforms the tray. Compare film consumption and waste per acceptable finished pack.
From the egg tray to a secured pallet
Once trays have been packed, the load must be prepared for storage and transport. Pallets of eggs can be secured with pallet netting or perforated stretch film where both stability and airflow are important.
Pallet netting has an open structure that leaves space for air circulation. Select netting intended for load restraint and a suitable dispensing arrangement. Perforated stretch combines the stabilising action of stretch film with openings for ventilation; film and tension must suit the packs and pallet pattern.
A Wrapper pallet wrapper provides a repeatable wrapping programme. Its configuration is matched to the chosen netting or film. With a delicate load, wrapping force is critical: the pallet needs to be stable without crushing its packaging. Layer layout, support and transport conditions are assessed too.
Packaging trials at the POLPACK ZEUS showroom
Bring the trays you use and specify your target output. By prior arrangement, we can prepare trials on available machines to compare shrink appearance, seal quality and handling. Include a second format if you pack different trays.
We help select equipment, film and workstation accessories. Leasing, installation, training and local technical and service support can also be discussed.
Frequently asked questions
Can one machine pack different egg trays? Yes, within its size and configuration limits, with film and conveyor settings adjusted as required. Does film replace the tray? No: the tray supports and separates the eggs while film holds the pack together.
Does Zeus Group also offer egg trays? Yes: ask POLPACK ZEUS about trays together with packaging materials and equipment. What is the difference between perforated POF and perforated stretch? POF is shrunk around the tray; perforated stretch is stretched while wrapping a pallet and does not require a shrink tunnel.
