Wrapper SA film systems

We select the machine, film system and stretch film as one load-protection process. Brake-based tension control and powered pre-stretch are different solutions. The choice depends on your product, film and operating conditions.

Film-tension control

Brake

Mechanical or electromagnetic

Both Wrapper SA brake variants use a multi-roller film carriage. The brake controls film tension; it is not a motor-driven pre-stretch system.

We match the film to the brake system and load. Material selection and trials help control wrapping costs while achieving the required protection.

Fixed pre-stretch

150–280%

Optional single-motor system

One motor drives the pre-stretch rollers. A fixed pre-stretch ratio is selected within 150–280% to suit your film and load. The pre-stretch ratio is not continuously adjustable during operation.

Film tension between the carriage and load can be continuously adjusted independently of the fixed pre-stretch ratio.

Pre-stretch
The film is elongated between powered rollers before being applied to the load.
Film tension
The force with which the film is applied to the load. In the powered system, it is controlled independently of pre-stretch.

Choose one of three Wrapper SA configurations: mechanical brake, electromagnetic brake or single-motor pre-stretch. A machine's maximum pre-stretch capability does not mean every film can be used at that setting. We confirm the configuration during selection. Select your pallet wrapper and film with POLPACK ZEUS.

Choose Wrapper SA when pallet dimensions, loading method or operating conditions require a tailored configuration. We design and manufacture our pallet wrappers in Warsaw and provide machine selection, packaging trials and service support.

A machine matched to your workstation

Wrapper SA pallet wrapping machine.
Configured for your process.

We configure the complete machine around your requirements, from workstation geometry and the film system to materials and components suited to the operating environment. Compatibility and availability of individual options are confirmed in our quotation.

Core equipment

Standard Wrapper SA equipment

  • 10 wrapping programmes — set the number of wraps at the bottom and top of the pallet and select the wrapping cycle. Manual and semi-automatic operation.
  • Controller with display — machine operation and wrapping parameter selection.
  • Pallet-height photocell — detects load height; a fixed-height sensor is also available.
  • Soft start and turntable positioning — smooth starting and stopping in a defined position.
  • Steel-profile construction — powder-coated frame manufactured at the POLPACK ZEUS factory in Warsaw.
  • Mechanical friction brake — the standard film-tension system; we select film to suit the machine and load.

Matched to your requirements

Optional equipment and special designs

  • Turntables and weighing — diameters of 1,500, 1,650 and 2,000 mm, with 2,500 mm also available as an option, plus an E-shaped cut-out turntable. Larger diameters and integrated weighing are specified to order.
  • Oversized loads — an extended base can increase the distance between the turntable and column. This requires an appropriately safeguarded working area around the machine.
  • Three film-system variants — a multi-roller carriage with a mechanical brake, a multi-roller carriage with an electromagnetic brake, or a powered single-motor pre-stretch system. Brake variants control tension and do not provide motor-driven pre-stretch.
  • Fixed pre-stretch, adjustable film tension — the single-motor system has a fixed pre-stretch ratio selected within 150–280% to suit your film and load. Film tension between the carriage and load can be continuously adjusted independently.
  • Controls — Unitronics controller; a colour Weintek touchscreen is available on request.
  • Column height and load capacity — 2,600, 3,000 or 3,600 mm columns, with taller versions on request; special designs with a load capacity of up to 5,000 kg.
  • Demanding environments — stainless or chemically resistant construction, with components, chains and bearings selected for the environment; enhanced protection and adaptation for sub-zero temperatures.
  • Top pressure and height detection — optional pneumatic top press, with cylinder stroke selected for load heights; compressed air is required. An ultrasonic height sensor is also available.

Selecting equipment for unstable loads

An unstable pallet does not always
require a rotary-arm wrapper.

We match the equipment and wrapping sequence to your product. A top press, turntable grip and film settings perform different, complementary roles.

Top pressure and protection against slipping

Wrapper SA can be equipped with a pneumatic top press. The cylinder stroke is selected to suit load heights. This optional top press helps stabilise the load as the pallet rotates.

We can provide a higher-grip turntable or locking fixtures matched to the pallet and load. These help prevent the base from slipping; selection depends on the product and loading method.

Gentle initial stabilisation, followed by the main wrap

The programme can begin with a gentle initial wrap at low film tension. Once the load is initially stabilised, the main wrapping phase uses settings selected for pallet protection. We also select the turntable speed.

A suitably configured turntable wrapper can handle some unstable loads. We confirm suitability in trials with your product, including its tolerance of rotation and top pressure. Where the load cannot tolerate rotation or cannot be adequately stabilised, a rotary-arm wrapper with a stationary pallet may be more appropriate.

Construction matched to your process

Protection throughout the machine.
Service at component level.

Wrapper SA is designed for reliability, straightforward servicing and the requirements of your workstation.

More than a stainless steel housing

For special designs, we also select components, chains and bearings to suit the environment. We can prepare the machine for sub-zero temperatures, splashing or contact with specified chemicals.

Tell us the operating temperature, cleaning method, and the type, concentration and temperature of cleaning chemicals. This allows us to specify materials, protection measures and the protection rating. Chemical resistance is selected for the actual substances and contact conditions.

Replace the component affected by a fault

As with Wrapper SE, the design uses separate components. This supports fault diagnosis and allows a faulty component to be replaced without replacing the entire control system because of one component failure.

This can reduce the scope and cost of a repair. Our service team determines the repair after diagnosing the fault. Machine configuration and equipment for your process are confirmed before the order is fulfilled.

Technical specifications

Standard specifications and available options. Our designs include a structural margin, and reinforced versions are available on request. This does not permit exceeding the load capacity confirmed for the particular machine. Column height is not the same as usable wrapping height; we confirm the required wrapping height and final configuration in our quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Do unstable pallets require a rotary-arm wrapper?

Not always. Wrapper SA can have an optional pneumatic top press with a cylinder stroke matched to the load. A higher-grip turntable or locking fixtures and a gentle initial wrap can also help. We confirm suitability in trials. The load must tolerate rotation and any top pressure; otherwise, we consider a solution with a stationary pallet.

How does the Wrapper SA pallet wrapper differ from Wrapper SE?

Wrapper SA offers extensive customisation, including turntable selection, a top press, controls and adaptation to working conditions. We compare specific configurations after reviewing your pallets and workstation.

Can pallets be loaded using a pallet truck?

Yes. One available solution is an E-shaped turntable with a pallet-truck cut-out. The configuration must suit the pallets and the pallet truck being used.

Can the machine operate in a cold store?

We can prepare a version adapted to sub-zero temperatures. Tell us the operating temperature and other environmental conditions when requesting a quotation.
